Friday // Reading Time: The Curse of the Good Girl | Rachel Simmons

I'm looking forward to going through this read. One, because my biggest fear when I realized I was having a baby girl was of all the obstacles she will go through as female in our society. As a young female who struggled with body image issues for most of my life and now, a young professional observing the female/male roles in a work place, it is a bit disheartening to think of my own daughter facing these things. But, you know, I think times are a changing for women-more attention is being demanded on the inequalities and the unrealistic standards of what a woman "should" be like.

I want my daughter to grow up wanting things. I want her to be courageous, not confined. I want her to express herself and not be judged. I want her to feel her independence. I want her to know she has power too. I want her to not be stopped by the voices of our society. I want her to set her boundaries.

I'm excited to see how this book can help me help her to know she has these possibilities.

Let's raise these kinds of daughters.

If you haven't seen this video by Always, it's pretty outstanding on this subject.
